SciBridge volunteers at North Carolina State University have been busy designing experiments using the donated Ocean Optics UV-vis spectrometer for Makerere University in Uganda. The UV-vis spectrometer will be used to determine the absorption properties of dyes for dye sensitized solar cells. SciBridge volunteers are testing out the software and trying out different kinds of dyes including pomegranate juice in an effort to ensure all the experimental "kinks" are worked out before we send the instrument to Uganda. As always, we are grateful for our volunteers!  |
